Iphone 4S : The Apple is out of the bag

Despite various rumors about the new iPhone regarding its screen size and dimensions, I'm extremely pleased to confirm that most of our predictions have come true as there has been no change in the new iphone's physical appearance. You may take a look at our detailed analysis  and retrospective predictions here.

Although there were countless authentic rumors that the screen bezel would be slimmer, thinner, and screen size roughly 3.7", what and what not....but the appearance has remained the same. Apple seem to been keen on their policy  "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Though we were not expecting radical changes in the new iphone but still deep down somewhere we were hoping to see a new look. disappointed ? ....not really, but the competition is already churning out great displays , yeah you are right we are talking about the Samsung Galaxy S II 4.3" fabulous Super AMOLED Plus display.
Also worth mentioning is the upcoming rumored Samsung Galaxy Prime with the 720p HD AMOLED display.

So what's new in the new iPhone 4S?

  • Apple A5 SoC, (New in iphone, the same chip used in iPad 2), dual core, ARM cortex A9 with PowerVR SGX 543mp2 GPU
  • 8 Mega pixel still image camera, with face recognition and improved optics. i.e 5 element lens instead of 4 element lens in the iphone 4.
  • 1080p Video Capture @ 30fps with video stabilization
  • Quadband GSM and CDMA both in one phone.
  • 1 Gb Ram 512 Mb LPDDR2 Ram
  • Bluetooth 4.0 ( but still no file transfer over bluetooth )
  • 64 Gb version available alongside 16 and 32 gig versions
  • HSDPA speed up to 14.4 MBPS up from 7.7 MBPS
  • 3 grams heavier than the previous iphone. i.e 137g vs 140g

New iOS 5 features, these will also be available in previous gen iPhone 4 with software update:

  • Siri, Natural language command and dictation interface ( It's nothing like Jarvis, nonetheless a  step in the right direction). Although Apple claims that Siri is only limited to iphone 4S at the moment. We don't see any technical reason for it not being available to iphone 4 as well. It is just a software upgrade. The hardware specifications of iphone 4 outclass the requirements of Siri by a mile. Sooner or later there will be a workaround this restriction.
  • iCloud, cloud based services.
  • Real time notifications, pull down notification center
  • Twitter integration
  • Independence from PC, now you can activate your iphone without syncing with a PC/Mac, also you'll be able to receive future software updates over the air (OTA) without connecting to itunes.
  • and lots of other bits

what we would have loved to see, but still missing in the new release:

  • Flash support in the web browser
  • Quick toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G
  • Facebook integration
  • App folders still are limited to 12 apps tops
  • DivX/XviD video support out of the box (though there are lots of players in the App Store)
  • USB Mass storage mode for uploading content to the device
  • No haptics for the touchscreen
  • No Bluetooth file transfers to other phones
  • Contacts lack a swipe-to-delete or mass delete feature

Question to the readers is that will you make the jump if you already own an iphone 4?
