Name the successor to iPad 2 (hint: it's not iPad 3)

Apple inc. have announced their successor to the successful iPad 2 , but it is not the iPad 3, it's called the "New iPad" aka "iPad 2012" confused? don't be, because there are only a minor tweaks under the hood as well.

The new iPad comes with a couple of changes that set it apart from its predecessor:

  • Retina Display with 2048-by-1536-pixel resolution at 264 pixels per inch (ppi), technically it is less than 300ppi so not a retina display in the true sense but Apple insist on calling it as such.
  • Dual-core Apple A5X Dual core system-on-a-chip with quad-core graphics i.e Power VR SGX543mp4
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • 4G LTE connectivity (wifi+4G model)
  • It's is bit thicker than the previous pad i.e 9.4mm vs 8.8mm
  • A 5 megapixel autofocus camera, dubbed iSight. 1080p video recording at 30fps
  • Bigger battery, i.e 42.5 Wh instead of 25Wh, with similar battery timings. That would justify the new GPU being more power hungry.
  • Increase in weight, now it is 652g and 662g for wifi and wifi+4G models respectively instead of 601g and 607g for the iPad 2.
  • Wifi Hot spot capability

So you were expecting a Quad core processor? expandable memory? what else, a holographic display perhaps? Question to the readers is, " what were you expecting from the new iPad"? what would you like to see in the new iPad?
With the release of the new iPad 2012, the price of the iPad 2 will go down for sure, and this makes the situation very interesting.
  1. Current iPad 2 users, is there enough in the new iPad that you would like to upgrade ?
  2. New potential iPad buyers, would you consider the iPad 2 instead because of the price decrease?
